Three More Throw Hat Into Atlanta Industrial Development Ring

Another handful of developers are tossing new projects into Atlanta's industrial fray.

John Hancock Real Estate, in a joint venture with CRG, is starting work on a 1M SF distribution facility in Locust Grove on a 311-acre site where the group eventually plans more than 4M SF of industrial space. CRG vice president Mike Demperio stated via email that the partnership intends to move forward spec on the project.

But the Hancock/CRG JV is among the latest to venture into developing Atlanta's hot industrial market. A group called Jackson County Industrial Partners Tract has filed plans with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (called a development of regional impact request) for a project consisting of three warehouses that would exceed 2M SF just north of Logistics Center Parkway in Jackson County, north of Atlanta.

And longtime Atlanta developer Taylor & Mathis has filed a DRI for Horizon Pointe 400, a planned 687,500 SF light industrial project on nearly 50 acres off Horizon Drive in Suwanee in Gwinnett County. Neither DRI disclosed a planned timeline for delivery of the projects.
