Last night we also went to the National Museum of Catholic Art & Library's 4th annual Roman Gala at the Embassy of Italy. Known as A Museum Built by Angels, NMCAL promotes the collection, preservation and exhibition of Roman Catholic art and art of other faiths. We snapped its founder Christina Cox and Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, who was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The gala was full of ambassadors, clergy, artists and art patrons. Here, Dan Martinez, i3m Communications’ Johnessco Rodriguez, who received the Patron of the Arts Award, artist Steve Alpert, who received the National Military Artist Award, and Prince Lorenzo de Medici.
Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner of cannelloni filled with spinach and ricotta, salmon with lemon caper sauce and tiramisu. Here, Pauline Stephenson, Oscar and Lilian Del Valle, Brother Joseph Britt, UNIFI’s Amanda Peralta, and Luis Del Valle-Peralta, who received the Portrait Award.
Paintings from the artists were showcased throughout the evening, along with Michelangelo’s Pieta, a life-size marble reproduction of the sculpture from Rome's St. Peter’s Basilica. Here, Kristi Canada, Chaplain Matt Canada, Ringler Associates' Randy Dyer, artist Steve Alpert's wife and Deloitte's Dorothy Alpert, and Susie Dyer.
