Look Out for the 2nd Annual Veterans’ Legal Career Fair

Placeholder

Orrick has announced the second annual Veterans' Legal Career Fair, which will take place April 29-30 next year in DC. We're told it's the only event of its kind in the US, giving legal employers the chance to interview lawyers who are veterans or active-duty service members ready to transition out of the military. Spouses are also invited to participate. The inaugural Veterans' Legal Career Fair brought together 150 candidates with 45 employers (with two dozen law firms among them), including Microsoft, Morgan Stanley and Shearman & Sterling. Next year's event will have panels of speakers, a networking reception and one-on-one interviews.

From last year's opening reception: Orrick recruiting managers Jennifer Lewis and Jenny Li; partner Jeff Prokop; firm chairman Mitch Zuklie; firm Diversity & Inclusion chair Lorraine McGowen, one of the people primarily responsible for creating the event; associate Amy Padgett, a military spouse; and partner Christina Sarchio.

Christina is also a military spouse and active in the Military Spouse JD Network, which is lobbying states to make it easier for military spouses to receive temporary bar licenses. She was recently given the MSJDN's 2015 Professional Excellence Award for her efforts in navigating "the triumphs and trials of the legal profession, motherhood and the military lifestyle."
