This week, Bisnow sits down with Melina Cordero, CBRE's managing director of retail capital markets, at Allegory at Eaton DC on K Street. Cordero started at CBRE as its first-ever head of retail research, and recently shifted into the brokerage side of the business.
Over cocktails infused with ginger and carrot, we talk about retail bankruptcies, department store reinventions and why she's not so sure online will kill brick-and-mortar.
"I haven't found an online-only retailer that really turns a profit in a meaningful way," Cordero said. "And so real estate. they're coming back to that, and at the same time, I think the big, established brick-and-mortar players are also coming back to their real estate."
