The e-commerce giant keeping brick-and-mortar owners up at night began opening retail locations last year and now has DC in its sights.

Amazon has enlisted retail broker KLNB to seek out DC locations, the Washington Post reports.

Edens' Jodie McLean tells the Post Amazon is "100% committed" to opening multiple locations in the next 18 to 24 months

In addition, Jeff Bezos' company (the e-commerce site, not the newspaper) announced Friday it would begin collecting sales tax for online purchases made in DC, a move that would be required if it opens a physical location.

Last November, Amazon opened its first bookstore in Seattle at the site of a former Barnes & Noble. In July, it announced its first brick-and-mortar store on the East Coast, in New York City's Hudson Yards. [WaPo]
