Exclusive: Transwestern Signs Tech Startup At One Thomas Circle
Tech startup Breather has signed a five-year lease at One Thomas Circle.
The Montreal-based company provides on-demand meeting and work spaces. It typically leases out small spaces, like this one that filled up roughly 2k SF.
Just three years after launching, the company has 180 locations in 10 cities. Its four previous DC locations exist in two buildings: 727 15th St NW and 1003 K St NW. It has plans for expansion in submarkets including the CBD, East End, Capitol Hill, Georgetown and West End.
Transwestern brokered the deal for building owner Polinger, Shannon & Luchs, with GE Asset Management serving as an intermediary. The building has recently signed tech companies TrackMaven and FiscalNote.
Transwestern EVP Joe Michel says he feels optimistic about keeping Breather as a long-term tenant.
"Their growth plan is quite substantial and they’re really flourishing with that plan in a major gateway city in the US," Joe says. "Our sense is that they're going to continue to expand their footprint here in the DC market...we're confident Breather will be on board for the long term."
