Residents will begin moving into a new apartment building in Shaw this month.

Jefferson Apartment Group announced Monday it delivered the 132-unit J Linea project at 2009 Eighth St. NW, the former site of the Town Danceboutique nightclub on the U Street corridor, and the third project to deliver in the neighborhood in recent months.

The developer expects to welcome its first residents by the end of the month. The project consists of apartments ranging from studios to two-bedroom units. The apartments include stainless steel appliances, kitchen islands, floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies.

The building's amenities include a fitness center, a rooftop terrace with grilling stations and fire pits, a top-floor indoor lounge with billiards, televisions and an entertainment kitchen, another lounge on the second floor with coworking booths and a coffee bar, electric vehicle charging stations and 24-7 concierge service.

The project sits near the intersection of Florida Avenue and Eighth Street NW, within a half-mile of the U Street and Shaw Metro stations. It is just south of two other developments that finished construction recently. JBG Smith's Atlantic Plumbing Parcel C completed late last year, and The Wren, a Whole Foods-anchored project from MRP Realty and JBG Smith, delivered in April.

McLean-based JAG has continued to increase its activity in the D.C. market this year. In May, it acquired a site across from Nationals Park in partnership with Starwood, and the team plans to build 320 apartments. It also filed plans with Arlington County last month to build a 26-story multifamily tower on the site of the RCA Building in Rosslyn. Additionally, it is working on a 330-unit project in Ballston

“Between the excitement and vibrancy of Shaw and the truly outstanding amenities offered at J Linea, this property stands out as one of our most exciting developments to date,” JAG Senior Vice President and Development Partner Greg Van Wie said in a release. “When we purchased the site in 2016 alongside our partner, Stars REI, our vision was to create a modern, sophisticated boutique apartment building with top-of-the line finishes.”
