An 80-acre Prince George's County development site that had been among the three finalists for the FBI headquarters relocation is now for sale.

Lerner Enterprises is marketing the now-vacant site of the former Landover Mall, advertising its mixed-use zoning, the Washington Business Journal reports

The site is at the intersection of the Beltway and Landover Road. It is directly across the Beltway from the Woodmore Town Centre retail complex, where Wegmans opened in 2010. It is also roughly 1 mile from FedEx Field and about 2 miles from Largo Town Center, where a new $543M regional medical center is under construction.

The General Services Administration had selected Lerner's site as one of three finalists in the D.C. suburbs for the new FBI headquarters before canceling that search in July 2017 and later pivoting to a plan to redevelop the existing headquarters on Pennsylvania Avenue. The two other finalists for the search were sites in Greenbelt and Springfield, Virginia.

The Sears on the Landover Mall site closed in 2014, more than a decade after the remainder of the mall shut down. Lerner owns a similar property in Montgomery County, the former White Flint Mall, where Lord & Taylor has stayed open following the demolition of the rest of the mall. That site is under consideration for another major economic development prize, Amazon HQ2
