Roadside Completes Landmark Shaw Project With Art Installation

Last night, we joined Roadside's Armond Spikell, Todd Weiss and Richard Lake at the City Market at O for the unveiling of Symphony in DC Major, a sculpture by DC native Zachary Oxman. The two-block project has a 182-room Cambria Suites hotel, 550 luxury units, 90 senior units and more than 90k SF of retail.

Union Army Col. Robert Gould Shaw, an abolitionist for whom the neighborhood was named. A reception with music and treats from the neighborhood was held—with plenty of bottled water—to commemorate the artwork designed to mesh with the neighborhood's personality. Richard says the goal was to "honor, inspire and connect our community." That's especially important because City Market's Giant replaced the historic O Street Market when Roadside redeveloped it.
