KLNB has appointed a new president and chief operating officer as the firm's longtime managing partner, Andy Georgelakos, prepares to retire next month.

Marc Menick joins KLNB from Peterson Cos., where he worked for 19 years overseeing leasing for the firm's retail portfolio, including major developments like National Harbor, Fairfax Corner and Downtown Silver Spring

As KLNB's president and COO, Menick will oversee all operations for the firm, which has roughly 80 full-time brokers working in five DC-area offices.

“While I will be ceasing work as a representative for an owner and developer, joining the KLNB team as president and COO is providing me the tremendous opportunity to take an existing leader in the industry and find new ways to make it even better," Menick said in a release.

Georgelakos announced his retirement in March and will officially leave the company on June 30 after 31 years with KLNB, the last 17 as managing partner. He said he is comfortable stepping into retirement knowing Menick will be taking over KLNB's operations.

“Marc has a strong reputation of integrity in the marketplace," Georgelakos said in a release. "He knows the dynamics of the Washington-Baltimore real estate market and he’s a collaborator who will not only help our team perpetuate the initiatives we’ve already put in place but also come up with new initiatives that will lead KLNB into the next phase of business growth.
