Most Escape Watergate Parking Garage Collapse Unharmed

One person was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after three stories of a parking garage at the Watergate complex collapsed on Friday. A witness described the incident as a 40 x 40-foot section of the ground collapsing in on itself in an experience that felt like an earthquake, the Washington Business Journal reports. The incident momentarily closed Virginia Avenue between 25th and 27th streets. Euro Capital Properties' Watergate Hotel is undergoing a $125M renovation, which will restore its original beauty with a twist of Mad Men glam. Engineers will have to assess the collapse to see if it will cause a delay in construction. It appears the building's exterior was not affected. [WBJ]
