Jair Lynch Approved for Half Street Development

Jair Lynch Development Partners has cleared the last hurdle to build a 10-story mixed-use building across the street from Nationals Park. By 2018, at the corner of Half Street SE and M Street, the U Street-based developer will construct a building with two stories of retail and either 445 residential units or 365 units and 80 hotel rooms. After being sent back to the drawing board because of issues with lights and bollards, Jair Lynch came back with new renderings a couple of weeks ago before being approved by the Zoning Commission Monday night, JDLand reports.

The ZC commented that the retail will be a boon to the area directly between the Navy Yard Metro stop and Nationals Park, part of the continuing revitalization baseball has brought to the area. The renderings, taken from Jair Lynch's presentation, show a glass curtain on Half Street and a matte black façade on N Street, facing the stadium. The project is a JV between Jair Lynch and MacFarlane Partners.

The two floors of retail will hold just about 60k SF. Jair Lynch will also open up an alley, called Monument Place, in between its new project and the existing office building over the Metro stop, as well as Cushing Place SE to run parallel to Half Street between M and N streets.
