FBI HQ Search Hits Regulatory Speed Bump

Placeholder

It will be several more months before developers know exactly what they need to do to win the coveted rights to the FBI's new 2.1M SF HQ. The three finalists, sites in Greenbelt and Landover, MD, and Springfield, VA, have been announced, but the GSA is delaying the release of its environmental impact statements until the fall. Those statements will tell developers what improvements need to be made to each site, and the results could drastically affect the final price tag, according to the Washington Business Journal. In exchange for developing the FBI's new headquarters, whichever developer wins the bid will get redevelopment rights to the J. Edgar Hoover building, a huge opportunity in DC's downtown. JBG, Lerner Enterprises and Boston Properties are said to be the favorites. [WBJ]
