WeWork just inked one of the largest deals in Mountain View this year. The co-working giant subleased 457K SF from LinkedIn at the under-construction The Village at San Antonio Center, which is expected to offer offices, a hotel, a movie theater and restaurants, The Mercury News reports. This transaction is one of the largest deals in Silicon Valley in 2017, and is WeWork's largest lease to date, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

WeWork has been on an expansion tear. This big lease falls on the heels of its buying The Flatiron School and its purchase of Lord & Taylor’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan as part of a larger deal that will place WeWork locations above department stores.

WeWork often rents large office buildings and then strikes deals with corporations that end up being the principal occupants. WeWork is looking to lease space to large tech giants, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal. Amazon could take half of the space, which would be large enough to accommodate 1,100 workers, according to The Mercury News. Amazon previously agreed to take two floors of an office tower where WeWork leases 75K SF in downtown San Jose.

The Village at San Antonio Center is being developed by Merlone Geier Partners and Carmel Partners. Phase 2 is expected to be completed in 2018. The two six-story buildings are at 391 and 401 San Antonio Road and within walking distance of the San Antonio Caltrain station.
