East Bay's Fastest-Growing Commercial Real Estate Companies
Some of the fastest-growing, privately owned companies in the East Bay have ties to commercial real estate, according to the San Francisco Business Times' newly released list "East Bay Fast 50." The growth of these companies—based in Alameda and Contra Costa counties—reflects the demand boom in the Bay Area, both on the peninsula and in East Bay areas such as Oakland. SFBT's based its ranking on percent growth in revenue from 2012 to 2014.
#4 Bali Construction
With three-year revenue growth of 553.9%, Bali Construction is the highest-ranked commercial real estate firm. The full-service construction firm is based in Walnut Creek and had 13 employees in 2014. A specialty restaurant, retail and office space general contractor, Bali Construction's portfolio includes: 4Fourteen, the nightclub addition to Ruby Skye nightclub in Union Square; Hawthorne hybrid cocktail lounge; and the remodel of Fathom 3D Printing's Oakland offices (Fathom is another Fast 50 company). #5 Lowney Architecture
Based in Oakland, Lowney Architecture had 258.3% revenue growth. The firm, which has expertise in retail, commercial, hotel, restaurant, religious and residential projects, had 18 employees in 2014. The company has designed vertical retail projects incorporating grocery stores, parking structures, retail space and housing. Projects include Whole Foods Markets in Oakland and San Jose; MacArthur BART parking structure in Oakland; and High Street Public Market in Oakland. Three-year growth for this Oakland firm was 143.8%. JRDV, an architecture and planning firm, had 15 employees in 2014. The firm is lead master planner for the West Oakland Specific Plan and Coliseum Area Specific Plan in Oakland. #24 Keller Williams Realty, Walnut Creek
The residential and commercial brokerage had 78.5% growth and 181 employees in 2014. President Beverly Steiner has majority ownership of the Walnut Creek brokerage as well as Keller Williams Realty, Danville, which ranked No. 46 on the list with 27.6% revenue growth and 344 employees in 2014. #31 Arcsine
Arcsine, which designs restaurant, hospitality, commercial and residential spaces, had 63.6% growth and had 12 employees in 2014. Based in Oakland, the team's project portfolio includes Herbivore in Berkeley, Firehouse Bistro & Books in Livermore, the renovation of 101 Market St dining and event space in San Francisco, and renovating the Oakland Convention Center.
