The high price of rent in San Francisco has some seeking unorthodox solutions. Going beyond the micro-unit, artist Peter Berkowitz built an 8-foot-long and 4.5-foot-high plywood housing “pod” that’s reminiscent of the famous Japanese micro-hotel capsules. Peter put the box in a living room and pays his roommate $400 a month in rent, according to Curbed. The pod can accommodate a twin bed.
