    With Halloween fast approaching, we decided to put together a handy list of spots that have helped our fair city earn its reputation. Whether you're looking for something to do while taking a break from trick-or-treating or simply looking for a fun way to spend a future fall afternoon, let this list serve as your guide while you explore our haunted surroundings.

    Berkeley Steam Ferry Boat

    Berkeley Steam Ferry Boat

    Location: 1492 N Harbor Dr

    The boat operated in the San Francisco Bay area in the late 1800s and is now home to the San Diego Maritime Museum's library, offices and special events. Workers on the boat have reported encounters with what appears to be a man wearing a fedora, thought to be a previous guest or worker on the boat.

    William Heath Davis House

    Location: 410 Island Ave

    Unexplained events have long surrounded this historic property. There are multiple reports of lights turning themselves on and off and mysterious sightings of a Victorian-era woman who appears only from the waist down.

    El Fandango Restaurant

    Location: 2734 Calhoun St

    This restaurant was built on the site of a home that was destroyed by a fire in 1858. A mysterious Victorian woman has been reported here as well, this time dressed in white and appearing to drift or float through the building.

    Old Point Loma Lighthouse

    Old Point Loma Lighthouse

    Location: 1800 Cabrillo Memorial Dr

    The lighthouse was constructed more than 200 years ago and used to serve as a guide for ships entering San Diego Bay. Heavy footsteps coming from the upper rooms have been reported by visitors as well as the feeling that someone is standing right behind you when no one is there.

    Del Mar Racetrack

    Location: 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar

    The legendary horse racing track has had its fair share of spooky happenings through the years. Multiple employees have reported hearing ghostly hoofbeats on the track late at night while others have reported the passing smell of cigar smoke in otherwise empty buildings.

    Villa Montezuma

    Villa Montezuma

    Location: 1925 K St

    The home was built in 1887 and passed through many owners before being designated as a historical site in 1970. It's believed to be inhabited by the spirits of the original owner and a servant who committed suicide on-site.

    Vallecito Stage Station

    Vallecito Stage Station

    Location: 37349 Great South Stage Route 1849, Julian

    Located in what is now Vallecito County Park, this was an old school stagecoach station in the 1800s. Yet another lady in white seems to have taken a liking to the area and roams throughout. She has some company in the form of a ghostly white horse that has been spotted near the campground.
