Speaking at a church service in Manhattan on Sunday, Mayor Bill de Blasio for the first time suggested the city could do without the program. He said if the state legislature won’t strengthen rent regulations and pass a mansion tax, “I say end those tax breaks once and for all.” The doozy came amid a speech outlining his vision for changes to rent regs and 421a during the ongoing leglislative session in Albany, which ends on June 17, Capital New York reports. De Blasio also praised Gov. Cuomo for an op-ed in the Daily News on Saturday, which took a stance similar to his own. [CapNY]
