The Durst Organization officially filed permits for the next two buildings of its Hallets Point project in Astoria, and signed its first major retail tenant as well.

Hallets Point is slated to be a seven-building complex of residential towers with ground-floor retail, but the future of the project was in jeopardy with only one building under construction due to the expiration of the 421-a tax abatement in 2015. The renewal of the program this year means it is once again all systems go, as Durst filed permits with the city for residential towers at 26-02 and 26-40 1st St., The Real Deal reports.

26-02 1st St. is planned to be a nearly 270K SF building with 294 rental units sitting above 2,400 SF of retail space and 163 parking spaces, while the larger 26-40 building will be nearly 350K SF, with nearly 7K SF of retail space beneath 358 apartments.

Meanwhile, Durst has also signed Brooklyn Harvest Market to a 25K SF lease at its first building, 26-01 1st St., which is under construction. It will be the first Queens location for Brooklyn Harvest Market when it opens in summer 2018, the Wall Street Journal reports.
