The Real Estate Board of New York will honor its own chairman and New York's senior senator at its 122nd annual awards banquet.

Tishman Speyer President and CEO Rob Speyer, who has been the chairman of REBNY since 2013, will receive the Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker Award at the Jan. 18 banquet — the biggest event on the city's commercial real estate social calendar — in recognition of his leadership of the organization through a mayoral transition and the election of a new REBNY president.

Sen. Chuck Schumer will receive the John E. Zuccotti Public Service Award, given to public office holders who make positive differences in New York. Other award winners include Stribling & Associates founder and Chairperson Elizabeth Stribling, LeFrak Chairman and CEO Richard LeFrak and Cushman & Wakefield Executive Vice Chairperson Joanne Podell.

The who's who dinner at the New York Hilton in Midtown will cap off a year in which REBNY waded into the battle over real estate listings with its own service, in addition to providing its usual combination of research and advocacy for the city's real estate industry. The influential group also played a major role in city negotiations over a new affordable housing tax abatement and construction safety laws.
