Savanna Files Permits To Demolish Billionaire's Row Building

Savanna could be throwing its hat into the Billionaire’s Row super-luxe condo ring. The developer has permits out with the Dept of Buildings to raze the 12-story office building at 106 West 56th St, spitting distance (almost literally) from Billionaire’s Row, reports 6Sqft.

The lot takes up 5k SF. For some perspective: The main shaft of Macklowe Properties and CIM Group’s 432 Park Ave (the tallest building shown in the photo above) is about 8,600 SF in total—so it’d be quite a skinny specimen indeed, if built.

Zoning would allow a tower on the site to hit 80k SF—but that’s without any development rights transfers. Amid the dense thicket of luxury condo, hotel and office buildings in the area, the building would have to be over 350 feet tall to have any of the coveted Central Park views that are helping to drive up prices in the area. No specifics have been announced for what will end up being built on the site. [6Sqft]
