US Markets Stabilize After Brexit Vote—UK More Volatile

Placeholder

The initial shock of the Brexit vote is subsiding as investors begin to focus on central banks while US stock futures climb.

That climb has been slow—futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 index each rose 0.1% on July 1, MarketWatch reports. But any gains are good news, especially considering last week’s rally was the strongest this year.

While things have calmed down here in the US, the same cannot be said for Britain. In an effort to keep businesses in the UK, the nation’s Treasury chief, George Osborne, said he plans to slice the corporate tax from 20% down to 15%, making it the lowest in the G20. [MW]
