Facebook Pop-Up Stores Offer Customers A Taste Of VR

Placeholder

You may have stumbled upon Facebook’s pop-up stores this holiday season as the social media behemoth set up shop at airports and malls across the country to showcase its virtual reality gear.

The stores are part of Facebook’s VR tour in an effort to convert mainstream customers into VR customers, USAToday reported. Stations where visitors can try out Gear VR headsets are set up in major cities including Denver, New York, Phoenix and San Diego. The tour will continue through January, at which point Facebook hopes to widen the customer base for its VR headsets beyond hardcore gamers.

In 2014, the social network purchased VR headset maker Oculus for $2B, and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is betting VR tech will soon become an important part of Americans' everyday life. [USAToday]
