The Halloween industry generates scary profits, expected to exceed $10B during the 2017 season, according to Hauntworld.com. One of the largest growth areas in the Halloween trade is the explosion in the number and quality of commercial haunted house attractions, which account for more than $1B of total Halloween spending. Visiting a haunted attraction is now the single most popular way to celebrate the holiday.

This Halloween, those looking for a fright will have more options than ever to choose from. Here are three of the scariest, compiled by Hauntworld.

13th Gate - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

This 40K SF outdoor New Orleans-style cemetery has over 400 zombie-infested crypts and mausoleums. Upon entering the attraction, visitors are sent 13 steps down an open grave into dark catacombs where they must find an alternate escape up and into the graveyard where the true terror begins.
