The World’s Next Largest Skyscraper Breaks Ground In Dubai

Placeholder

The world’s largest skyscraper is under development in Dubai under a joint venture between Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding.

The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour is an investment vehicle of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and is expected to be finished by 2020, Commercial Property Executive reports. The building is designed to be about 330 feet taller than Burj Khalifa, the world’s current tallest building, bringing its height to some 3,045 feet. It's projected to cost $1B. That's quite a bit taller than America's tallest building, One World Trade Center, which stands at 1,792 feet.

The tower was designed by Spanish/Swiss architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava Valls and will feature 360-degree views of the city from an observation deck atop the pinnacle. Adding to the glamour of being the world’s tallest building, the structure will incorporate moving lights to create dynamic visuals for all the city to see. [CPE]
