Airbnb Announces Plans To Restrict Hosts In Two Major Markets

Placeholder

For the first time, Airbnb has agreed to enforce restrictions in two major markets limiting the number of nights a host can rent a home annually, a nod to US and European regulators in an effort to ease concerns.

The home-sharing behemoth announced plans today to restrict London and Amsterdam hosts starting in January from renting entire homes for longer than each city deems legal unless licensed to do so. This move could provide a guide to how the company will operate in major markets around the globe, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Airbnb informed hosts in London it will apply the 90-day per year limitations next year, as well as Amsterdam's 60-day per year restrictions. In New York and San Francisco, the company continues to work with legislators on a compromise. [WSJ]
