Employers Add 209,000 New Jobs In July, Signaling Continued Strength In The U.S. Economy

U.S. employers continued to expand their employee base at a healthy rate in July, according to the U.S. Labor Department.

The country added 209,000 new jobs last month, pushing the unemployment rate down to 4.3%.

Though this represents a moderate slowdown compared to the 222,000 jobs that were added in June, these numbers beat estimates, the Wall Street Journal reports. Payroll gains in the healthcare and facilities support service industries drove job growth in July

These numbers reflect continued strength in the U.S. economy, and investors took note early Friday morning following the report's release, pushing S&P 500 futures up 0.14% from 0.09% prior to the release.
