Economists Say A Recession Could Hit In Next Four Years

Placeholder

As GDP continues to grow at a sluggish pace, America must face one of two realities—either a recession will hit while the next president is in office, or this will be the longest economic expansion in US history.

Economists surveyed by Wall Street Journal believe a recession is more likely, suggesting a 60% chance of the next economic downturn hitting within the next four years.

The US economy has never grown for more than a decade without a recession, and it’s likely that within the course of the next four years a number of things could knock our economy off course—from a slowdown of the economy’s cyclical momentum, to a mistake made by the Fed or some global shock that impacts financial markets beyond repair.
