Carlyle head of financial services Olivier Sarkozy has resigned, according to people with knowledge of the move.

Olivier—half-brother of the former French president with the same surname—joined Carlyle in 2008, and the private equity firm raised two financial services investment funds under his leadership, of $1.1B and $1B, respectively.

Olivier will stay on as a senior adviser to the firm. His first fund got a 13% return after fees, while the second’s return hasn’t been disclosed yet, Bloomberg reports.

Regardless of personnel changes, the PERE giant has seen better days. Carlyle's profits dipped 78% in Q1, although it outperformed some peers—Apollo saw a loss during Q1. [Bloomberg]
