PHOTOS: Is This The Office Of The Future?

If you believe the man behind Google's original office digs, the office of the future will be an endless, single-level layer of workspace in the clouds, hovering right above the city. That's the design masterminded by Clive Wilkinson, the architect behind the original Googleplex.

In his version of a futuristic London, the starchitect envisions the ideas of co-working space and work-from-anywhere collide to fundamentally reshape the city.

Instead of commuting to the office, workers can climb up a ladder or take an elevator to quickly access their workspace.

There, they can work right next to their neighbors, collaborate with each other, and even create new companies—marking the beginning of entrepreneurial communities that live and work in the same neighborhood.

The workspace layer blankets the whole city, but it opens up wherever there's a monument, a tourist attraction or an interesting building. In addition, circular courtyards let the sunlight in and serve as green oases within the Endless Workplace.

Of course, the whole concept is not going to happen anytime soon. But it does offer an innovative solution to two of today's most pressing problems: it eliminates the need for long commutes and it's even good for the environment, since it would radically reduce carbon emissions. [Fast Company]
