The City of Minneapolis Planning Commission unanimously approved plans by Doran Cos. to develop a $100M apartment community. The development is a joint venture between Twin Cities-based Doran Cos. and CSM Corp. and will feature 372 units, including 10 units of affordable housing.

The property will be called The Expo, as an homage to the former Industrial Exhibition Hall that was across the street from the site. That structure was built in 1886 and is noted as the site of the 1892 Republican National Convention.

Doran Cos. acquired the 2.54 acres in the spring of 2017. In addition to residential units and 400 parking spaces, the development will include more than 3,175 SF of retail space.

Common amenities will include clubrooms and entertainment suites with chef-grade kitchens and a terrace-level outdoor pool with dining areas, grills, a bar, fire features, a bocce ball court and a putting green. There will also be a business center, a fitness center, a spa, a sauna and a game room with a golf simulator.

"Our long-term commitment to this part of Downtown — including our existing 338-unit apartment community at Mill and Main — remains a key focus of our company," Doran Cos. founder Kelly Doran said.
