Amazon could be about to open a third 360 degree-access North West fulfilment centre.

The online retail giant is in talks to take 360K SF from developer Bericote at Haydock, close to junction 23 of the M6 motorway, Place North West reports.

The deal is thought to be associated with a reserved matters planning application for the 360K SF unit — along with a further 476K SF unit — both part of a 1.4M SF development which already has outline consent, according to Place North West.

The site offers 360 degree access, an important consideration for Amazon. It was a strong element of the appeal at their 357K SF fulfilment centre at Logistics North, Bolton. The site was named 360 to emphasise its access potential.

Amazon have remained consistently active in the U.K. warehousing sector. Only last month they signed up for a 1.5M SF fuflilment centre in Darlington in a deal with Manchester's db symmetry.

Recent openings in the North West include the heavily automatated 654K SF facility at Airport City Manchester.
