Whole Foods Finally Opening in Downtown

Three years in the making, Downtown LA’s long-awaited Whole Foods market opens on Wednesday, Nov. 4, on the ground-level at Carmel Partners' 700-unit Eighth and Grand, a new luxury apartment complex at 770 S Grand Ave in the Historic Core. This is the second major supermarket to open in the revitalized Downtown, as a Ralph's Fresh Fare opened in South Park in 2007.

The 41k SF Whole Foods store will open at 9am following a “bread-breaking ceremony” with city officials, Curbed reports. The location will also offer free samples, giveaways, food and beverage demos, live entertainment and a photo booth all day long.

The store’s interior design emulates the historic district’s art deco style “with a contemporary twist and offerings that reflect Downtown LA culture and history." The alcohol selection includes Angel City brews and spirits from GreenBar, an organic distillery and the only LA distillery to open since Prohibition. There’s also 200 indoor and outdoor seats, as well as a parking garage with 175 spaces and a bike lock-up section. [Curbed]
