5 Hot Retail And Mixed-Use Projects In LA

With the booming construction projects around the city, retail and mixed-use projects are gaining even more momentum.

We'll take a look at current retail and mixed-use projects and the future of the industry at Bisnow's Annual Retail and Mixed-Use Forum event Nov. 3 at the Montage Beverly Hills. 

1. Hollywood Park

The project, being developed by Wilson Meany and Stockbridge Capital Group, will include a 300-key hotel, 3,000 residential units, stores, restaurants and 25 acres of parks.

The architects include Hart Howerton, Quatro Design Group, EDAW, Baldauf Catton Von Eckartsberg and Mia Lehrer & Associates.

The more than $2B, 70,000-seat stadium, being designed by HKS for the LA Rams, will crown the project.

The stadium is expected to open in 2019.

2. Oceanwide Plaza

Oceanwide Plaza, being built by Beijing's Oceanwide Holdings Co, is a nearly 1.5M SF project going up in DTLA.

On a 4.6-acre site at 1101 South Flower St, it includes three high-rise residential towers with 503 condos, 183 hotel rooms and a 700-foot-tall LED display.

Kennedy Wilson is the leasing agent for Oceanwide Plaza’s 153k SF of retail.

Oceanwide Plaza is being designed by CallisonRTKL and is slated for completion in 2018.

3. 1601 Vine

JH Snyder's 1601 Vine in Hollywood is a $70M property, offering 115,687 SF in the heart of Hollywood.

The eight-story building, designed by Gensler, will feature creative office space and 2,119 SF of retail space on the ground floor. 

4. 2510 Temple St

A new mixed-use development is coming to 2510 Temple St in Historic Filipinotown and is being built by 4Site Real Estate.

Designed by Tighe Architecture, the four-story development will include 47 apartments and about 2k SF of restaurant space on the ground level.

There will also be a swimming pool and a gym at the back of the .65-acre site.

5. The Bloc

The Bloc is a major project in DTLA built by The Ratkovich Co that is a renovation of more than 2M SF on a city block.

It includes a 496-room hotel, a renovated Macy's, and other retail and creative office space.

The Bloc's open-air courtyard opened last summer.

It is the biggest project downtown and is transforming the look of Seventh Street in the Financial District.
