These discerning bookhounds all agree on what the world should be reading: Raising an Entrepreneur, by our former colleague Margot Machol Bisnow, center. Bookending her: hot dog titans Richard Pink (previously of Clarion Partners) and wife Gloria, who could write quite a book on entrepreneurship, too: fresh from opening their family's 14th Pink’s last month (in the Philippines), they’ll be cutting the ribbon for their 15th location, at Del Amo Fashion Center in the South Bay. As for Margot, her book—subtitled “10 Rules for Nurturing Risk Takers, Problem Solvers, and Change Makers”—argues that parents should help kids figure out and follow their passions into careers and not be overly concerned about “practicality.”

Margot’s talk at the Brentwood Country Mart also included other real estaters like Chris Rising, Howard Stern and Jilliene Helman. Her book is based on interviews with 60 entrepreneurs and their moms to identify patterns in their upbringings.

At talks around the country, Margot is bringing with her entrepreneurs she wrote about. Last week, movie director Jon Chu told about his childhood as the son of immigrant restaurateurs in Palo Alto. At her previous Washington, DC, event, she brought Jayne Plank, mother of Under Armour founder Kevin Plank.

In Woodside in the heart of Silicon Valley last night, she brought Esther Wojcicki, mother of the CEO of YouTube, and Eric Ryan, founder of Method soap products. (Raising an Entrepreneur is available at Amazon.)
