Airbnb Partners With European Hotel Group To Deliver Experiences

Placeholder

Airbnb global hospitality and strategy chief Chip Conley told Bisnow last February that experiences will be the next big disruption in the hospitality industry. Now that's coming true.

Home-sharing app Airbnb will partner with Châteaux & Hôtels Collection in a first-of-its-kind deal that will offer hotel bedrooms and gourmet experiences on Airbnb’s website.

Châteaux & Hôtels Collection, presided over by iconic chef Alain Ducasse, represents more than 500 hotels, restaurants and guesthouses throughout France and Italy.

The offer is part of Airbnb’s new platform, Trips, which allows users to access immersive, hyper-local experiences near their rented accommodation. Airbnb rolled out the product in November with 500 "trips" in 12 cities worldwide. With this new partnership, the move seems to open up the possibilities to tourism professionals and hotel operators.

The four gourmet experiences offered by Châteaux & Hôtels Collection include visiting local food markets with the Paris-based head chef of restaurant Citrus Etoile; chocolate-making with a French chocolatier using Ducasse’s signature styles; learning mixology with a leading bartender and cocktails creator; and a look behind the scenes of Ducasse’s cooking school.

So far, only the mixology course with Marjolaine is on the website.
