Walker & Dunlop Moving Headquarters To New Bethesda Office Tower
Walker & Dunlop is moving about a quarter-mile from its longtime headquarters at 7501 Wisconsin Ave. into the 12th through 14th floors of the new office tower. The deal brings Carr's 363K SF office development to 100% leased.
"Culture and creativity happen in the office," Walker & Dunlop CEO Willy Walker said in a statement. "As a high-growth company that is known for its phenomenal customer service and vibrant corporate culture, Walker & Dunlop is extremely excited to create our new corporate headquarters in Carr's gleaming new building in Bethesda, Maryland."
The new office building is part of a 940K SF mixed-use development that also includes The Elm, a 456-unit apartment building, and 12K SF of retail. Carr has delivered the office building to tenants to build out their spaces, and the residential building will deliver early next year, Carr Properties CEO Oliver Carr told Bisnow.
The development was built on the site of the former Apex Building, one block south of the Bethesda Metro station and on top of the future Purple Line station. It is part of a wave of new trophy office construction in Downtown Bethesda that has drawn tenants from other parts of the area.
Carr has also signed office leases at The Wilson with WeWork, Enviva Partners, WTTG Fox 5, ProShares and UBS Group. Earlier this year it landed a retail tenant, Boston-based Tatte Bakery & Café, to occupy 4K SF.
"Having Walker & Dunlop choose The Wilson as their future headquarters speaks to the best-in-class quality of this project," Carr said. "Now more than ever, a building's health and wellness qualities are critically important considerations in customers' decision-making process."
