WC Smith Gets DCHFA Funding For Congress Heights Project

A planned apartment building in Congress Heights by WC Smith will be receiving funding from the DC Housing Finance Agency.

Archer Park will be a four-story building built on the 1200 Block of Mississippi Avenue SE. The building is slated to include 190 units, all of which will be affordable housing, Curbed reports.

Developer WC Smith will receive both construction and acquisition funding from the DCHFA. Archer Park is the first of a planned two-phase redevelopment of the Trenton Terrace apartment complex, which the developer acquired in 2004.

Plans for Phase 1 call for units ranging from efficiencies to two-bedrooms, with amenities set to include a green roof terrace, a fitness room and a 128-car garage with free assigned parking. Phase 2 of the redevelopment project will feature a 74-unit townhouse development with both affordable and market-rate units.

Archer Park is the latest project to enter the District’s growing affordable housing pipeline. Earlier this month, Mayor Muriel Bowser pulled back the curtain on a dozen affordable housing projects that will receive $82M in public funding, and create 804 affordable units. They'll be discussed on March 24 at Bisnow's fifth annual Affordable Housing Forum[Curbed]
