The construction of a "robot brothel" — generating a lot of concern from Houstonians, including Mayor Sylvester Turner — has been temporarily delayed by the city.

Canadian-based KinkySDollS, which allows patrons to rent or buy human-like sex dolls, didn't secure the required permits for demolition and construction, the Houston Chronicle reports. The company leased about 2,500 SF in a former hair salon on Richmond, near Chimney Rock in the Galleria area.

The company will have to apply for a demolition permit and submit plans in order to complete construction, a spokesperson from the mayor's office told the Chronicle. The original timeline set the opening for the end of September or the beginning of October. The company's next steps haven't been released.

In August, KinkySDollS announced on its Facebook account plans to expand into Houston. Its original location is in Toronto, and the Houston shop would be the second location for the company. It would also be the first business of its kind in the United States.

The city will review existing ordinances and consider drafting new ones to stop or regulate similar businesses, Turner told the Chronicle. He said that while he doesn't want to be the "moral police," the mayor doesn't want these types of businesses in the city.
