Amazon To Build 855k SF In Houston?

Placeholder

Harris County Commissioner Court documents show Amazon plans to build an 855k warehouse in Pinto Business Park at the southwest corner of I-45 and Beltway 8. The proposed $136M facility would be independent of the company's Prime Now facility in Humble and could bring 1,000 jobs to the area, the Houston Chronicle reports. The facility is estimated to have an economic impact of $173M annually.

The filing is part of a request from Amazon for tax abatement. Harris County commissioners are expected to discuss the issue of whether to schedule a public hearing tonight. The tax abatement would lower Amazon's taxes to 65% for 10 years.

Hines' Pinto Business Park is already home to some big tenants, like Grocers Supply Co and the recently opened 105k SF HQ of Alfa Laval. When fully built-out, the park will total 9M SF. [Chron]
