This Week's Houston Deal Sheet

Mayor Turner was on the scene for the groundbreaking of New Hope Housing's latest SRO community. New Hope at Harrisburg in Houston's historic East End is the latest effort in the fight against homelessness across the city.

The 175-unit community near BBVA Compass Stadium will also have retail and office space to serve single adults living on a limited income. Over its 20 years, New Hope has helped more than 8,500 men and women to live in high-quality, affordable housing.

Crisjan Martin's Corporate Living Environment was acquired by Corporate Housing Associates, significantly increasing the company's market share of corporate housing in north Houston.

At AIA Houston's Rendezvous Houston Gala Saturday night, the org announced it's moving to the historic Riesner Building at 900 Commerce in the heart of Houston's original Downtown. A design competition is being held for the new space.

Kirksey announced the firm's first WELL accredited professional, Colley Hodges. The WELL Building Standard consists of designing toward, measuring and monitoring performance thresholds in seven categories of wellness: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind.

Randall Davis Co poured the foundation for the new luxury condo Arabella. Despite the economy and sharp rise in supply in the area, Arabella is already 50% sold.

LEASES

CBRE's Brian Ashby represented Tout Suite in leasing a second location. The new café in Memorial City Mall will offer an array of handcrafted confections sourced from local producers.

EDGE Realty’s Culver Stedman repped Old Navy in its new 12.5k SF lease in the Westlake marketplace in Humble. Fidelis' Carson Wilson repped the landlord.

Cusman & Wakfield’s Parker/Littman team is at it again. This week, it closed a lease on 150k SF of warehouse space in La Porte.

Promotional marketing agency Jack Nadel International signed a new 5k SF office lease at 2100 Travis St. JLL’s Chad Baker and Matt Sanderson repped the tenant, and Transwestern’s David Baker and Evelyn Ward represented the landlord, Midtown Central Square.

Marcus & Millichap’s Marc Irvin arranged the sale of a 20k SF retail property in Katy for $5M. The Shops at Fry (above) are a retail center shadow-anchored by a 24-hour Walmart Supercenter. Tim Speck was the Texas broker of record.

EDGE announced three major deals this week:

  • Josh Jacobs and Hannah Smith sold a 33k SF shopping center in Spring to Cypresswood Partners. 
  • Josh and Hannah also arranged the sale of a 25k SF shopping center in Houston to Diep Henry.
  • 99 Clay Project bought a 4.44-acre parcel of land from Riddle Holdings at the southeast corner of Grand Parkway and Clay Road. EDGE’s Sara Allen repped the buyer, and NewQuest's Jeff Lokey and Jeff Hayes repped the seller.
