Seattle’s rise to prominence on the national and global stage has not come at no cost. The city has added 105,000 residents since 2010 (now home to more than 700,000) and as a result, home prices have risen, single-family neighborhoods have seen density decrease, and minority groups have been displaced. This is most evident in the following statistic: 75 percent of Seattle’s land is zoned for single-family living and accommodates only 5 percent of Seattle’s population. A Fall 2018 Neighborhoods For All report published by the Seattle Planning Commission is one example of brilliant reporting, proposed legislation, and a hope for a brighter future in Seattle. Now the question is: how can the CRE industry stem this tide, working alongside politicians to create change? Join industry experts from across Seattle and Puget Sound as we explore topics such as proposed rezoning and advents to technology allowing an expedited permitting process.
