The developers of more than 5M SF of office space in Dublin — or 15% of all commercial stock in the city — have adopted or committed to adopting digital connectivity rating scheme Wired Certification since July 2017.

The aim of the certification is to give occupiers clarity around the infrastructure, connectivity and technological capacity of office buildings.

According to WiredScore, the company behind the scheme, Dublin’s take-up has been the fastest among leading European cities. It said Wired-Certified office space in London, for example, now accounts for 8% of the city’s overall commercial office stock.

However, the high proportion of new stock being developed in Dublin in comparison to existing space may partially explain the city’s performance in this area.

WiredScore said it is currently working with 19 landlords in Dublin across 55 buildings.

Some of the developments that have achieved Wired Certification to date include the Exo Building and 500K SF Spencer Place. IPUT’s 150K SF One Wilton Park — pre-let to LinkedIn — and 10 Molesworth St. have been awarded Wired Certified Platinum status, the highest rating under the scheme.

Other landlords and developers WiredScore is working with in Dublin include Hibernia REIT, Blackstone, Hines, U+I, Castlepark, Clancourt, Green REIT, Irish Life and McGarrell Reilly Group.

IPUT said 15 of its buildings — almost 1M SF of its office portfolio — have achieved Wired Certification so far.

“Against the backdrop of Dublin’s rapid growth as it becomes a leading tech hub, we have seen widespread adoption of Wired Certification, faster than that of other European cities,” WiredScore President and EMEA MD William Newton said. “Dublin continues to see forward-thinking landlords placing an emphasis on providing superior connectivity and a robust digital infrastructure within their office buildings.”
