The 650 solar panels on the newest Greenbox Self Storage facility in Centennial are estimated to produce enough carbon-free electricity annually to meet the electricity needs of about 30 homes each year.

The sustainable storage facility at 8115 Chester St. has amenities that include energy-efficient, motion-activated LED lighting systems, 26 closed-circuit video surveillance cameras, computerized keypad access, individual door alarms on select units and free use of a moving truck for customer move-ins.

Greenbox also uses biodegradable cleaning supplies and digital signatures on its electronic contracts, which dramatically reduces the use of paper and toner. It rents plastic storage containers for moving and signs for customer deliveries.

“We are excited to bring the environmentally friendly and solar-powered Greenbox Self Storage brand to the Southeast Denver and Centennial communities,” said Focus Property Group President Bahman Shafa, who developed, owns and operates Greenbox Self Storage.

This is the fourth Greenbox Self Storage facility for developer Bahman Shafa.

The 113K SF building has 957 storage units on four floors. The units range from 5 feet by 5 feet to 10 feet by 30 feet. Fifty of the units are drive-up units that are accessed from the exterior.

It is the fourth Greenbox Self Storage that Shafa has developed. His first, at 3310 Brighton Blvd. in River North, filled up so fast that he built a second one at 2424 Delgany St. across from Coors Field. A third followed at 1385 South Santa Fe Drive, which can accommodate RVs or other large-item storage. All of the locations are completely solar powered.
