H-E-B Sells Off McKinney And Grapevine Locations From Sun Fresh Package

To the dismay of H-E-B fanatics in McKinney and Grapevine, the San Antonio-based grocery giant has sold its locations at Hardin Boulevard and El Dorado Parkway in McKinney and at State Highway 121 and Hall Johnson Road in Grapevine to Safeway.

These two locations were part of the six-store package H-E-B purchased from Sun Fresh Markets in August.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, the Dallas Business Journal reports.

Safeway owns Tom Thumb, Randalls and Albertsons. Lincoln Properties will lease the site on Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road in Lakewood.

H-E-B has stressed that its upscale concept, Central Market, will be the primary growth vehicle in Dallas. Two of the six sites (at Northwest Highway and Midway Road, and McKinney and Lemmon avenues) will become Central Markets.

The future of the Northwest Highway and Ferndale Road location in Dallas remains undecided.
