The Big D and Chi Town have another player in the grocery store wars and grocery delivery services: Amazon. The Seattle-based e-commerce giant now offers grocery delivery to Dallas, Chicago and surrounding suburbs via AmazonFresh (which is not to be confused with the brick-and-mortar stores Amazon plans to open).

Memberships for the service run about $15/month as an addition to Amazon Prime membership, a considerably lower price than the original tag of $299/year.

Perishableseven frozen foods, produce, cosmetics, toiletries and household goods are available for same- or next-day delivery at a customer's selected time.

The membership service also offers local products such as Dude, Sweet Chocolate and Scardello cheese in Dallas and Manna Butter and Intelligentsia Coffee in Chicago.

AmazonFresh launched in Northern Virginia, Boston, Baltimore and London earlier this year, joining service in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Hampshire, West Virginia and Northern California.
