WeWork Adding 2 More Locations In Fort Worth

Co-working giant WeWork is expanding its North Texas footprint by adding two locations in Downtown Fort Worth. The new WeWork spaces will be at 420 Commerce St. and 505 Main St.

All together, the new shared office spaces will add 650 WeWork desks to the Fort Worth market, the Dallas Morning News reports. The New York-based coworking company opened its first location in Fort Worth earlier this year at the mixed-use Clearfork development.

The company has other Metroplex locations in Uptown and Downtown Dallas, as well as Plano.

"We are committed to Texas, and we are just getting started," WeWork's Chelsea Barnett told DMN.

Coworking in Dallas-Fort Worth has yet to reach the density of more mature markets such as New York, Chicago or Los Angeles, but the number of coworking companies in DFW and the amount of space devoted to the sector is growing dramatically.

The number of flexible office space facilities has roughly tripled from around 50 at the end of 2015 to 140 as of midsummer this year. That includes WeWork, but also Regus, Meridian, local powerhouses like Common Desk and independent companies with single locations.

Coworking is moving into the mainstream of global corporate culture. Recent estimates suggest that there are now almost 18,000 coworking spaces around the world, accommodating almost 1.7 million workers.
