Lake Highlands Town Center Finally Moves Ahead

Lake Highlands Town Center is finally moving ahead. The mixed-use project on the corner of Walnut Hill Lane and Skillman has been in the making for nearly a decade but only just now received the required permits and pulled together funding.

Cypress Real Estate plans to develop a 60k SF shopping center anchored by a Sprouts grocery store, according to the Dallas Morning News. Additionally, a 257-unit four-story apartment community will be erected on the east side of the shopping center and David Weekley Homes will add up to 60 row houses at the south end.

Some live/work spaces will be built on the ground floor of the apartment building.

Original plans called for a more urban concept, but the nearby communities struck down that idea, not wanting to deal with the noise and traffic. Thus, a more suburban community was conceived. The final price tag was $300M. [DMN]
