Officials in Frisco have signed off on plans for a mixed-use development, Roughrider Plaza, between Dr Pepper Ballpark and Ikea on the Dallas North Tollway. The ballpark is home to the Frisco RoughRiders minor league baseball team.

The 14-acre site is one of the largest undeveloped properties near Stonebriar Centre mall, NBC reports. The city of Frisco purchased the land in the mid-2010s.

The plans call for as much as 350K SF of office space and 100K SF of retail, a new public park and new parking garages with over 1,700 parking spaces. The new parking will replace parking lots that currently serve Dr Pepper Ballpark, Plano Profile reports.

Eventually a 311-room hotel built by Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi could become part of the development, CBS reports.

“We have done some renderings of just some concepts that we would like to see around the ballpark, but we want to see some creativity,” Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney told CBS.
