Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives received LOIs from two national restaurant chains for its Pullman Park development on the Far South Side. Potbelly Sandwich Shop and Chipotle Mexican Grill agreed to be part of the ambitious, 200-acre project on the former site of a Ryerson steel plant.

Chipotle and Potbelly will occupy 2,500 SF each in a 10k SF retail center CNI will build on the northwest corner of 111th and Doty (pictured). T-Mobile previously committed to the project and will occupy 1,800 SF.

Pullman and nearby Roseland are two neighborhoods in dire need of retail development. CNI, led by president David Doig, has slowly made headway in the area. An earlier phase of Pullman Park brought a Walmart to the area three years ago. CNI also helped bring soap manufacturer Method to the area. With the historic Pullman district designated a national monument earlier this year, the area seems poised for big changes ahead. [Crain's]
